Then I see Robert's comment, too funny. I like that this borders on the abstract, yet lingers with realism. Larry and I are talking things over right now and he put me onto Kyle Martin. Kyle is a member at WC and posts in the Plein Air forum. His use of color, simplified shapes and broad brushstrokes are very interesting. I told Larry that now is the time to experiment. We will see. I may try these trees again. Thanks for taking the time to comment.Doug Wasilieffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04764150019567893620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9088480746807162467.post-53923004257341491532012-03-20T11:50:52.104-07:002012-03-20T11:50:52.104-07:00Beautiful glow to the trees. With only a hue shift making the grass redder, the masses look very similar and the painting seems almost Wolf Kahn abstract - that gray sky vibrates blue with all the brilliant oranges.

If you want to try the subject again, maybe using more muted yellow ochres and raw siennas in the grasses would make the glowing orange trees stand out more - then use just a few small passages of intense color in the grass where the sun comes through sky holes. Just a thought if you want to try it again.robertsloan2arthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02598847116529877475noreply@blogger.com
